Introduction:

In this section I will be conducting a weekly log of my production stage. The reason why I am starting with production rather than context and research is because I didn't feel I needed to include progress for it. Evidence of progress in Production can be found on the Practical Skills page.

End of Pre Production: (01/04/21)

The Majority, if not all, of the research is complete. This means that I have looked into all the areas I need to in order to complete this project. The Research will be needed to be taken into account when designing my level. The Pre Production is now also complete so I can Move onto designing and making my level, Starting with the Assets. The Rest of the project will now be about production progress.

Production Begins: (23/04/21)

The first week back I have done several things. I have completed my first asset and textured it which is good, I am pleased with its final result. I have also completed all the Pre-Production things I need to so now I can move on to Full Production. I have also done a few smaller things like a lot of Harvard referencing which has needed to be done. Next Week I will be Moving on to creating some more assets and also catching up with Harvard Referencing.

Constructing Assets: (30/04/21)

This week I have completed a lot of stuff. First of all I have fully caught up with Referencing. This has been on my list of things to do for a while and it was good to get it done and out the way. The Main thing I did this week however is construct the remaining assets I needed to. All my assets I need to create have been modelled although most of them still need textures. I decided to leave this until all the assets were done so I had something to show instead of spending all my time on texturing. Texturing is now ready to be started next week and hopefully be close to be completed by the end of the week.

Texturing Assets: (07/05/21)

This week I have managed to texture most of my Assets. Doing this I am almost ready to move onto the level and grow closer to finishing this project. I still have 1 more to texture but the assets that I have textured, I am happy with. The progress of these assets are on the Practical Skills page. Because this is all I have been doing this week there is not much to log here so it is a bit shorter than usual. Next week I need to finish texturing ASAP. and then move onto creating my scene.

After realising that I do not have a huge amount of time before the project is due. Because of this I have decided to create my scene in 3DS Max. I have loads more experience in this so it would be a lot quicker than me having to spend time learning Unreal.

Converting to Level Design: (14/05/21)

This week I completed the texturing and was able to move onto designing the room for the level. The level was not very hard to complete as I made it in 3DS Max. After creating the general shape of the room I added textures. The colours of the walls do not mix whatsoever so I decided to slightly adjust the lore. The man has only just moved in and is halfway through re-decorating. This also explains why the kitchen section is so bare. I then Imported it to unreal and was ready to start adding the downloaded assets. The location and process is described in the Practical Skills section. I am not where I would like to be and am cautious whether I will be able to meet the deadline next week or not. I think I will be a better judge at the beginning of next week when I get a bit more done.

Finishing the Level and Project: (19/05/21)

Instead of logging this part on Friday, Which I would usually do, I have decided to do it on Wednesday as my final evaluation will be created both Thursday and Friday. So I am giving my last update before the 'big finish'. So far this week I have been able to get a lot closer to finishing my level. Last week I said I wasn't sure whether I would be able to complete it, Now I would say It is very likely I will be able to finish the practical tomorrow. All I have got to do is correct a few more textures and then Lighting and that's pretty much it. Depending on how much time I have left I may also add some other details like curtains and pictures and police tape if possible. After this stage I will then be complete so I will get some final footage of my level and begin the evaluation. I did not get the level done as soon as I would have liked but it is what it is.

Final Evaluation can be found on the Final Product & Evaluation Page.
